Charlotte Gainsbourg started filming her mother, Jane Birkin, in order to look at her under a new light. The shyness they held for eachother blocked every attempt at communication. But through the camera, the ice breaks, and behind it is an unprecedented exchange, taking place over several years, which gradually erases the two artists and exposes them in an intimate and universal conversation to reveal a mother facing a daughter.
